Homemade Brownie Mix in a Jar

A “From Scratch” Recipe

It’s more than a quick dessert

In a busy homestead kitchen, not everything can be made from scratch in the moment—and I’ve learned that’s okay. With a house full of kids, there are long days, unexpected messes, and evenings when everyone just wants something sweet without a whole production behind it. That’s where little things like a homemade brownie mix come in.

Keeping a jar of this on the shelf means I can still give my family something warm, homemade, and comforting without starting from scratch every single time. It’s one of those simple habits that makes life feel a little more manageable—and a lot more cozy.

Simple Pantry Ingredients
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Chocolate chips (measured with your heart)
Mix Once, Use Anytime

Combine all dry ingredients and store in a mason jar.

Bake When Ready

Mix with 1/2 cup butter, 2 eggs, and 1 tsp vanilla. Bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes.

From My Kitchen

Some days call for slowing down, and some days call for simplicity. This is one of those little shortcuts that still feels like home, no matter how busy life gets.
