Foraging and why we do it
The practice of searching for and collecting wild food resources from natural environments

Foraging requires knowledge of your local ecosystems.
On the homestead, we do not depend on foraging for our regular food supply. All the items we forage are additions to our garden supply. We do this completely recreationally, for our own education and enjoyment.
For example, many of the berries on our farm are wild! This technically means we are foraging when we are collecting our blackberries, thimberries, and salmonberries. Other things we regularly gather include:
– Yarrow, Feverfew, Nettle varieties, and more!
Sometimes the best medicine grows from weeds
Foraging on 5 Acre Wood Homestead is directly connected to our idea of Farmacy > Pharamacy
