Pantry Seasoning Blend for a classic sandwich filling
Keeping this seasoning mix ready means sloppy joes are only minutes away.
It’s a simple blend of pantry spices that tastes even better than store-bought packets.
Mix Together

- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup garlic powder
- 4 Tbsp paprika
- 2 Tbsp chili powder
- 1 Tbsp ground mustard
- ½ Tbsp pepper
- ½ tsp celery seed
Store in a mason jar and shake before each use.
Make Dinner
For every pound of browned ground beef:
- Add 2 Tbsp seasoning mix
- Stir in 1 cup ketchup
Simmer until heated through.
Serve It Up
Pile onto homemade hamburger buns with pickles, chips, or coleslaw.
From My Kitchen
Sloppy joes have been a family favorite for years because they’re quick, filling, and perfect for feeding a crowd. Making my own seasoning mix means I can skip the store-bought packets while still getting all the sweet, savory flavor everyone expects.
I like keeping a jar of this blend right alongside my other homemade pantry mixes. Together they turn ordinary ground beef into several different dinners with very little effort. Building a pantry like this has made meal planning easier, grocery shopping simpler, and dinner far less stressful on busy days.
